Well one could argue that in many ways, SL is already like that. There are a lot of sims where exhibiting some very spectacular work is the sole purpose of the sim. Ever hear of Light Waves and the Greenies? Linden Lab likes to tout them heavily, but while they have some great visuals, the amount of interactivity is low. A museum (don't touch!). :)

But as I summarized, I really don't think this will become the universal norm of SL. Of course, I've been wrong before... ;p

Mistress Darien you make a valid point again. The critical aspect here is that two sorts of people are in SL. Those who wish to build and create, and those who use SL as a social environment, meeting and interacting with like-minded others. I cannot comment on those who would use the grid for educational purposes, their aims are at the least laudable and understandable, but remote from me. I freely admit that SL is a social medium for me, no other motivation - yet.

I find the concept of SL as a museum scary. What would the motivation for LL to develop the grid in such circumstances?

I for one would find such developments worrying.

Yes, thats a good parallel. There is another example I left off my list, the proliferation of Void Sims. People are very attracted to them not only because of the price and prims, but because of the privacy and seclusion. It's not uncommon for these to be surrounded by water on all 4 sides.

It's not a new concept, Land barons have been checker-boarding sims for many years. But at the very least, you still had a few neighbors. I just find it an interesting trend to see what is billed as a social world actually heading toward being less social.

I suspect this is the result of people being used to the current WWW. You can effectively browse the web anonymously (IP tracking besides) without having to bother interacting, but now (omg!) there's somebody *talking* to me.

Personally I love meeting strangers (who are often delightfully strange) - I suspect this is just going to be another change in attitudes that will take some time to be accepted.

Some people just can't read instructions unfortunately.

Whatever, this one admires Your patience with trying to support that Nasty person.

In it's humble opinion, You make some of the most reliable products, and the documentation is worth reading :P

Keep the good work up and just forget that kind of people. It's really hopeless to argue with them as they don't want to understand. They just don't want to. As Ketter said, they exists in RL as well, and are just as annoying there too. Everyone meets them sometimes and it's always a very frustrating experience.

A customer have right, but that doesn't allow it to be rude, mindless or otherwise a jerk. You did what You could in a hopeless case so all credits to You and Your beautiful products Darien.

When anyone asks this one about good products, or when subjects of collars are brought up, it always recommends Your products. Not only because of the functions and look (which are both highly appealing) but also because of Your good customer service.

So don't take any blame on this, it's all the unwanting, unwilling, uncooperative rather rude customers fault.

Translation:

"I want it, I want it now, and I don't want to have to do anything to get it. You figure it out for me by reading my mind."

He must not have been that traumatized about it if he was already making plans to buy another one elsewhere, which I will almost guarantee also got screwed up and resulted in the creator getting a similar interaction.

sascha - No, it's not an impression. It's a fact. That or they just don't want to be bothered with annoying stuff like the reading part at all. It's like the RL guy who buys whatever electronic toy, can't get it to work, and then complains to the store that it's obviously broken. When the store asks if he read the set up instructions first, he complains that he shouldn't be expected to do that and it's all their fault it's broken.

Sometimes, I fear for the future of the human race.

Not that I'm any judge, but what an idiot! You (Dari) were the essence of helpfulness when one of my items corrupted. It may have been my fault, but you were sooo helpful in replacing it without a word of complaint. I've bought a lot of stuff from your store, and I love it all, even if SL screws both with it and me occasionally!
Some people are just naturally unpleasant, and being in the market you are, there are probably more than average.
Take it philosophically (as you do). Stuff 'em, there are far more happily restrained customers than unhappy PITAs.
Please keep up the good work!
